Untold is both enigmatic and monumental, rising four metres from the ground. It seems familiar yet unknown – we recognise it as a female figure clad in furs, but no hands, feet, or facial features are discernible. With majestic poise, this being appears introspective, brooding, radiating a secret, or perhaps a burden or promise. She waits, biding her time, like a possible companion, a potential forerunner. The sculpture stands in a beech grove in a secluded area of Rosendal, within in a triangle of trees pointing westwards, embraced by a dim, green light filtered through the canopies.

Charlotte Gyllenhammar’s Untold reminds us of how art can communicate when words fail us. Inspired by the supernatural beings and spirits from fairy tales and folklore, many of these stories embodied transformation and sought to explain the invisible and dangerous forces of nature.
